Langrisser III
Langrisser III is a strategic role-playing game developed by Masaya Games and published by NCS for the Sega Saturn. Released in 1996, the game serves as a prequel to the entire Langrisser series, set 200 years before the original game. It follows the story of Diehârde, a young mercenary caught in a continental war, and introduces revolutionary narrative and gameplay systems that significantly evolved the franchise.

Story
Langrisser III is a prequel to the first two games in the series and deals with the creation of the sword Langrisser. Consequentially, it is also set before the prequel series Elthlead , and lays the foundation for the wars which take place in that strategy series. The game also introduces the genealogies which dominate most of the Langrisser series, with the exception of Langrisser IV , which is set on the Western continent Yeless.
